Certified conformity

December 1st 2012

FLUX FOOD pumps satisfy the latest European safety standards for food contact surfaces.

The FLUX FOOD series by FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH comprises barrel and container pumps and also eccentric worm-drive pumps that are certified to the Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 and the "Plastics" Regulation (EU) 10/2011. Pumps of the FLUX FOOD series are allowed to bear the glass-fork symbol.

Different risk assessments for plastics that come into contact with the food in EU and USA

The Regulation (EU) 10/2011 for plastics that come into contact with food, a specific measure of the Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, came into force in May 2011. For the first time it provides the members of the European Union with a uniform definition of the requirements made of plastic materials and objects that are designed to come into contact with food, and also the testing methods for certification. It is a widely held misconception that FDA conformity alone is sufficient within the EU. There are differences in terms of the risk assessments of the various substances compared to the requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA. The new pumps of the FLUX FOOD series satisfy both the EU regulations and also the FDA requirements which is a great advantage for a global company.

FLUX FOOD series bears the glass-fork symbol

The pumps in the FLUX FOOD series are certified for applications that have contact with the food, and they bear the glass-fork symbol. The new FLUX FOOD pumps include the barrel and container pumps FP 427 FOOD (can be completely dismantled), FP 430 FOOD (with explosion protection for alcohols) and the eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 FOOD (in a flange and a transmission model for high-viscosity media) – all in stainless steel. This means that the FLUX series can cover a wide range of applications ranging from low viscosity to high viscosity fluids. And of course, all FLUX FOOD pumps can be completely dismantled and cleaned quickly.

3-A pumps for the US market

In contrast to the EU Directive and the FDA requirements, certification in accordance with the 3-A Sanitary Standards required for the USA also focuses on special requirements in terms of the pump design. As early as 1995, FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH introduced pumps of the F 427 and F 560 series which satisfy the FDA requirements and which are also 3-A certified.

FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH

In 1950, the world's first electric barrel pump was named FLUX. Under this name, a company has developed which today may quite rightly be regarded as the unchallenged pioneer and world market leader in the field of barrel pump technology. Also, the company has excellent know-how in and experience of other pump technology fields. Today, our wide range of products includes barrel and container pumps, submerged centrifugal, thick matter and compressed-air diaphragm pumps as well as mixers, liquid flow meters and, of course, an extensive range of accessories. For example, FLUX pumps are used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, in machine and plant construction and in electroplating companies, in sewage treatment plants and in the food industry. Internationally renowned for the outstanding quality of its products, FLUX-GERÄTE GMBH sells pumps in almost one hundred countries around the world.
